Portrait photography can help show everyone you needs to your best you. In the visual world your image is your first impression.

Nowadays everyone has a good friend or an uncle with a “nice camera” . This might sound like enough. Its not. A trained eye for beauty and light are more important. I’m sure everyone has seen the billboards with the iPhone pictures that look amazing.  This is a prefect example of how a good eye can trump a hobbyist with some expensive gear.  To quote Neal Peart ” Its not the pots and pans that make the cook”. This is true with photography and any art for that fact.

Here at Sean Bolton Photography we break down our portraits into 2 categories, studio portraits and environmental portraiture. Studio portraiture is exactly what is sounds like, a portrait in a studio environment. The advantage to this approach is mainly the ability to control lighting and  look without many challenges from the elements. In the studio the sun , wind or other weather elements that will make a photo hard to deal with are no problem. Great shots have been ruined by a gust of wind or  a fickle cloud.  Some advantages of environmental portraits are a more “natural” look and the host of amazing landscapes and scenes the earth has to offer are a click away.  It is fun to bring some studio elements to the great outdoors for a nice hybrid approach.  I feel its gives a subject more “pop” at times.
