If your serious about ecommerce you need an Amazon product photographer to handle your photo needs for your listings. You can see the Amazon image standards listed here. It basically states that you need product photos on white no smaller than 1000 pixels on the shortest side. If your not sure what this means take some time to read on this page and around my site for some more information.
You may think “I can handle the photography no problem”. And for a small percentage of people this may be true. But if you think its as simple as getting a white sheet out and pointing your iphone at your product your in for a surprise. Another popular opinion is that if you buy the right gear like the newest expensive camera you will have all the equipment you need to get the job done. This is also false. Along with some great gear you really need to know how to use it. This process can take years to perfect. And aside from just a camera you need a decent lighting and post processing setup.
One of the factors of being a good ecommerce photographer is knowing how to get an image on pure white. This usually require photoshop.
Product photos on white can be tricky but if you know what your doing you will end up with and image that looks like the example below listed “after” Alternatively if your thinking you will get your image right out of the camera to use you will be greeted by and image that looks like the image below labeled “before”.
