AI Product Photography
AI product photography has been something of a hot button issue for me. Myself I can see the benefits of machine tools helping us but to quote Joanna Maciejewska “I want AI to do my laundry and dishes so that I can do art and writing, not for AI to do my art and writing so that I can do my laundry and dishes.” This hits pretty spot on with my opinion of AI as well. That being said there are some innovations I have been taking advantage of and this post is centered around my experiments with creating AI Product Photography.
For this experiment I used only Adobe Photoshop and its generative fill function as well as the Generative expand function. The results vary from super cursed to pretty spot on. None of these images to me are earth shatteringly good but some are pretty close to perfect. And with a little massaging they could make a really nice ad design. I plan to make a video to accompany this post sometime down the line but for now here are the results and the prompts.
For each image I used a catalog product photo on white and generated an AI background. This I could see being very useful for anyone with an amazon listing that needs some lifestyle images. Or possibly and ad campaign.
The results!
This is one of my favorite options that the AI created. I added the prompt “sitting on stone next to a campfire” and this is what I got.
For this series my prompt was “tiki” bar. Some of these are ok I left in some bad ones so people can get an idea of how far we might need to go before AI can do everything for us.
The prompt here was “laying in snow”
This is what the prompt “in a locker room” gave me.
On the patio promt
Sitting in snow again
On a wooden table.
In an office
“laying in crib” was the prompt here, which produced some interesting options. Some of the edges of the product were extended in a strange way. All in all though I think the options are fitting the product.
