Music Photography
Being a musician has always pulled me toward photography. Every time my band needed photos, I genuinely enjoyed the entire process. That passion naturally led me to dive into music photography whenever the opportunity arose.
Not long ago, my longtime friend Jace Miller (pictured below) reached out. He needed new shots for his band Alright Junior’s upcoming album. Since we’ve performed together many times in the past, I knew they’d be up for something bold and creative.
We shot most of the photos around Graffiti Pier in the Kensington section of Philadelphia. Shooting in such a gritty, urban environment always challenges me to find angles and moments that feel fresh—especially in places that have been photographed countless times. I feel strongly about this for two reasons. First, I love the idea of creating striking images in locations where you wouldn’t expect it, especially when options are limited. Second, I aim to deliver as much visual variety as possible to increase the chances of pleasing my clients.
For this session, we explored construction equipment, the space under I-95, and an abandoned field near Richmond Street. The entire shoot was an absolute blast, and I’d jump at the chance to do more projects like this.
Looking back, it’s amazing to see how much the area has changed. The once-desolate spots where we shot are now home to apartment buildings and a luxury grocery store. It’s wild how quickly the world moves on.
