Field of Vision II Photo Gallery

A festival of this magnitude is always an undertaking to be reckoned with. There is the physical barrier of actually getting to the festival witch is about 2.5 hours from a major airport on a lucky jaunt.  There is the elevation which being from Philadelphia was a considerable hurdle and then the logistics of surviving out of a tent/car for the weekend. All challenges worth the amazing ammount of quality sensory overload the festival offers.  

I’m not much of a live music photographer. In fact I hardy shoot any music aside from my own projects. But this being the monumental occasion that it was I decided to do some shooting.

I decided that the general festival culture was more rewarding personally to focus on than trying to get the most amazing shot of the performers. Those shots are wonderful but when your not used to being at this altitude every bit of energy is precious and while I do enjoy getting up close to the stage there were so many wonderful things right in front of me it just didnt make sense to focus on the stage. 

I did managed to grab some video during the @anginedepoitrine set which was amazing! The collective anticipation for the set was palpable and the energy in the crowd was so high and overwhelmingly positive.

My favorite set not pictured here was the Blood Incantation full set of their album Absolute Elsewhere. While the festival featured mainly rock and electronic adjacent acts it was really nice to hear some Death Metal and Blast Beats in the Colorado mountains. 

And while I didn’t manage to shoot any other sets except with my phone @kinggizzard was amazing as always and the whole fest was a life changing experience. 10/10 would recommend.
